Candle Care

So what are soy candles?

Only a handful of people know the benefits of soy candles given that they were only invented in 1992. They make up a small percentage of sales compared to paraffin wax. Few people know what is in the candles they burn. For example Paraffin candles are proven to emit toxins into the air and are made from oil byproducts. Soy candles are made from an all natural renewable energy source resulting in a clean burn and 90 percent less soot produced. Therefore it is fair to say most of us don't glance at the ingredients in the foods we eat on a daily basis. Simply put if we are educated about how our everyday choices affect our health and our planet we can as a result make those better educated choices.

Soy wax candles have other immense benefits too including easy clean up with soap and water due to the creamy consistency of the soy wax, plus can be rubbed into your skin as lotion. Soy candles also burn cooler and can last 50 percent longer than paraffin. Soy also supports U.S. farmers seeing that nearly all soy is produced right here on our farmland, in addition aiding our economy.

Learn how to burn or use a warmer

1. Before lighting your candle trim the wick to one fourth inch and before lighting each time thereafter.

2. The first time you light your soy wax candle let it burn until the wax is melted all the way to the edges of the container. This will set the wax so the next time you burn your candle it will do the same. This prevents tunneling which means the wax burns down the center instead of to the edges of the container.

3. BE SAFE! Set burning candles away from drafts and out of reach of children and pets. Candles should not be burned near flammable items.

4. Do not burn longer than three to four hours at a time.

5. To extinguish flame, push the wick down into the melted wax and pull back up. Use a Wick Dipper or similar tool. This will set the wick for the next lighting.
